"DJ BBQ aka Christian Stevenson has cooked up quite a name for himself. From presenting his Channel 5 TV series ‘RAD’, BAFTA winning ‘RAD The Groms Tour’ and being taken on by Jamie Oliver for his FoodTube channel to DJ'ing for Bill Gates' Microsoft parties, acting in feature films and presenting a show on Kerrang! radio, he’s quite the all rounder. It’s his passion for the art of barbecuing that brings him to the Big Grill festival."

John Relihan

John has just finished up as head Chef and Pitmaster at Jamie Oliver’s flagship restaurant Barbecoa to pursue a new (secret) venture Having trained under world-famous Pitmaster Adam Perry Lang, the Kerry native has become one of the most creative and dedicated Pitmasters in Europe. He returns to the Big Grill for his second year to cook over the four days with his own twist on an Irish style of BBQ focusing on our abundance of wild game, seafood, and some surprises.

Tyson Ho

One of the rising stars of BBQ, Tyson Ho is the owner & Pitmaster of Brooklyn’s Arrogant Swine, a beer hall specializing in Carolina whole hog BBQ which has New Yorkers all abuzz. Tyson will be bringing traditional North Carolina whole hog BBQ to Herbert Park for the full weekend.

Andre Lima de Luca

Brazil’s first certified Pitmaster, Andre is owner & head chef at BOS BBQ in Sao Paulo, the country’s only Texas-style BBQ house. Andre meshes his Italian-Brazilian roots with traditional smoking methods, creating unique dishes that have garnered him worldwide media attention an led him to become Brazil’s most famous BBQ star.


Grillstock was born out a deep love for American BBQ and culture; cooking meat with fire and smoke, chowing down together with family and friends and kicking back to great music. With three smokehouses on the go serving up low ‘n’ slow cooked meat, Grillstock also host the annual rowdy weekend festival of meat, music & mayhem attended by thousands in the UK. Pitmaster and head of operations Pete Griffiths will be cooking some Grillstock favourites at The Big Grill.


Three friends from Dublin discussed the idea of a barbecue restaurant for many years. Following some great meals in restaurants in Spain, Portugal & South America the idea of using an asador or bespoke grill was born. We wanted a new concept which was not in Dublin and one that would impress. The idea of cooking the best Irish produce on an authentic barbecue really excited Shane, Rebecca and John, all proprietors of ASADOR. A standout Argentine Asado dominates the open kitchen and dining room.


Under the guise of Head chef Arshad Ansari, Kinara Kitchen has become famous in Dublin for their fine Pakistani cuisine. For the past number of years they have expanded into the green-field sites of Ireland's festivals and outdoor events. Cooking their famous chicken and lamb skewers on charcoal satay grills, they were one of the stars of The Big Grill 2014 and deserved winners of Judges Choice 2013 and Peoples Choice 2014 at Electric Picnic for their festival food. Smokin' Bones

Smokin' Bones attened The Big Grill in it's first year. Their ribs were so popular that there was a line for them all weekend. An authentic good 'ole American Smokehouse located in Dublin's Dame St. Smokin' Bones are back for their second year servin' up authentic American Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs and more.

Uncle Sams Smokehouse

Uncle Sam's have been growing in popularity at markets and events throughouth Ireland. Famous for their authentic American 'cue, Sean, the man behind it all has some of the nice additions to the usual American style menu items we find here. Try out his Turkey legs and his Bunny Burgers!

Brews We Plate

Founded by Eric Heilig and Floriane Loup #BrewsWePlate is offering a unique craft beer and fine food pairing- all cooked over a live beechwood fire, in traditional North German style. Eric & Flo have been putting on some amazgin pop-up's around Dublin where they focus on matching food to beer. Each dish is created around their chosen beer. Simply sublime, this will be something very special.

Adare Farm

Hog roasts seem to everywhere these days- usually cooked over a gas fire (boo!), but not many can beat this; welfare-friendly pigs, reared on their own farm and spit-roasted over a wood and charcoal fire. This provides a unique, lightly-smoked flavour. Mmmmmm...

The Pigs Tale

A beautiful Award Winning Restaurant situated at 95a Main St., Co.Wexford. 147 Deli

147 Deli have been operating on Dublin’s Parnell street for the past couple of years with a fresh and creative approach to casual food. Their artisan sandwiches have become known as some of the best in Dublin. Barry, the owner, is passionate about the art of cooking with live fire and smoke- so we've grabbed him to come cook some of his favourite BBQ dishes at The Big Grill 2015.

The Argentino Grill

When Juan Pablo Gelis moved to Ireland, he "had a dream to own an Argentine stall serving traditional food, introducing our Argentine culture through food, especially our well known grilled meats, to the Irish market”. They use prime quality Irish meat from local butchers, cut in the Argentinian style and cooked to perfection on his open fie Parrilla enhanced by use traditional Argentine mild to spicy sauces such as Chimichurri and Criolla

We'll be wrapping up the weekend at the infamous Bridge Bar in Ballsbridge from 8pm. Everyone is welcome to come & join us, and we'll have Bodytonic DJs providing the soundtrack.

The Weber Grill Academy

Visit the Grill Academy On Tour at The Big Grill Festival, where Weber’s expert chef will be demonstrating how to grill, roast bake and smoke on the barbecue – cooking up delicious dishes such as ultimate donut burgers, pizza, banana bread and pulled pork. Munch & Gargle Live

One of the driving forces behind the coffee revolution in Ireland, 3fe owner Colin gave up a lucrative job in banking to dedicate his life to coffee. Colin has grown his coffee empire from simple beginnings in the lobby of the Twisted Pepper to his popular store on Grand Canal St, a roastery & training school. On the Saturday Colin will host his ‘Munch & Gargle’ live podcast series about food & drink in Ireland, as well as demos on traditional coffee brewing methods using live fire.

Garret from the Pigs Tale will be teaching us all about where the famous BBQ cuts come from, susage and pudding making all from the beloved hogs.


Big Grill Pitmasters

The inaugural Big Grill Pitmasters Competition will take place on Saturday August 15th & Sunday August 16th, of the festival and is open to anyone to take part. It will be Ireland’s first USA style Low ‘n’ Slow competition. As well as a healthy cash prize and bragging rights, the top Irish team will be invited to take part in the prestigious Jack Daniels Invitational in Tennesee.

BIC will be providing the spark for the Big Grill Pitmasters Competition, as official lighter partners. Come join us for the best view of all the action from the BIC Chill Zone when the competition kicks off on Saturday, Aug 15th.

Each contestant is given 30 hot wings, one in five are extreme heat. first one to finish all their wings (clean off the bone) wins.

Chilli Pepper Challenge

Who can go the furthest? Each pepper gets hotter as we work our way up the scoville rating. Last person sitting wins. Everything but the stem MUST be eaten to go to progress. Last person sitting wins.


DJ Yoda

DJ Yoda’s rise to fame has come from his seminal How To Cut & Paste series, which showcases a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”. Yoda uses his world renowned turntable skills and a truckload of influences as diverse as funk, pop, reggae and even big band swing and country & western to make unashamed party music.

Stomptown Brassband

Stomptown Brass are a new urban brass outfit from Dublin. With musical roots in the New Orleans tradition of street-stomping horn players, they have spent the last number of months bringing Dublin pedestrians to a standstill around the city.

Morro 16

Morro 16 are a vibrant Brazilian samba ensemble based in Dublin. Their infectious ‘batucada’ style brings the energy, rhythm and vibe of the Rio carnival to Dublin. Their first performance was on Hill 16 in Croke Park during the Ireland v. Brazil soccer friendly in 2008 and they’ve played festivals such as Electric Picnic, The Festival of World Cultures, St Patricks’ Festival and Drogheda Samba Festival.

Handsome Paddy

One of Dublin’s most sought after DJs, Handsome Paddy recently joined RTÉ 2XM with his new show No Static. Paddy has played support to a long list of famed hip hop acts such as Jazzy Jeff, The Pharcyde, MF Doom, De La Soul and Jurassic 5, and never fails to cook up a storm.

Mamah Kasbah

Mama Kasbah is a band or, as the name says itself, a community" of sounds, rhythms and languages from many corners of the Mediterranean Sea with colors from Latin America and Jamaica. Mama Kasbah sings in English, Spanish, Sicilian, Italian and more to produce a global sound that moves beyond the boundaries. The fresh and original mix of rumba, ska, reggae, balkan and Latin American rhythms makes Mama Kasbah a real dancing machine and a source of positive vibrations.

Miriam Lambert has been at the heart of the Irish puppetry industry since her childhood, having grown up with the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Dublin. Trained by her mentor and father, the late Master puppeteer Eugene Lambert, she has played an integral part in the creation of many of the legendary puppet characters and performances in the renowned Lambert productions.

Want to be a vendor at Big Grill 2015?

The inaugural Big Grill Pitmasters Competition will take place on Saturday August 15th & Sunday August 16th, of the festival and is open to anyone to take part. It will be Ireland’s first USA style Low ‘n’ Slow competition. As well as a healthy cash prize and bragging rights, the top Irish team will be invited to take part in the prestigious Jack Daniels Invitational in Tennesee.
On the Saturday the side category rounds will be judged including 'anything but' and on Sunday the grand champion will be crowned with the chicken, ribs, pork and brisket hand in.
We will be providing a wash station, power and a covered 3m x 3m area for each team. Entry for the Big Grill Pitmasters event is €100 per team. Our event is sanctioned by The International BBQ Network and full rules can be found here.
