I bought a ticket for the 2020 and/or 2021 festival, will my ticket work for 2022?
Yes, all tickets purchased for 2020 and 2021 will be valid for the Big Grill 2022. Your existing ticket will be accepted and scanned on the gate.
I decided to hang on to my ticket from the postponed 2020/2021 events- when will I receive my extra tickets?
Your additional tickets will be sent out by April 2022.
I didn’t get my Eventbrite ticket sent to my inbox ?

What does my ticket get me?
Your ticket guarantees admission to the festival where you can sample dishes from Ireland & The World’s top live fire chefs and restaurants. It gives you access to Bastecamp for demos, talks and workshops with a host of talent. On top of that there will be a kids area, music & entertainment, BBQ competitions, eating competitions, a host of bars and twenty Irish Craft Breweries. There will be plenty of interesting vendors offering everything from rubs to sauces, corn dogs to ice creams and all manner of delights in between!
How much are the tickets?

Do children need a ticket?

Will I be able to buy tickets on the day?
Yes, a limited number of tickets will be available to purchase from the Gate/Box Office at Herbert Park on the day unless a given day is sold out in advance.
Please note- Friday and Saturday tickets usually sell out in advance.
Where do I collect my tickets from?
Your tickets will be emailed to you, you can choose to print them or better yet, present them to us on your smartphone & we’ll take it from there. We prefer the latter option, it’s better for the environment.
*Please note- there will be NO ticket collections available at the venue

When and where is The Big Grill taking place?
The Big Grill Festival will take place in Herbert Park, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 from August 11th – 14th 2022.
Entrance to the festival is via the Herbert Park Road entrance.
Thursday 11th August 4.30pm – 10.00pm (bar closes 10pm)
Friday 12th August 4.30pm – 10.00pm (bar closes 10pm)
Saturday 13th August:
Day Slot 12.00pm – 4.30pm (bar closes 4pm)
Eve Slot 5.30pm-10.00pm (bar closes 10pm)
Sunday 14th August:
Day Slot 12.00pm – 4.30pm (bar closes 4pm)
Eve Slot 5.30pm-9.00pm (bar closes 9pm)
How can I get there?
We advise coming along by public transport as parking is limited and restricted in the area.
The Dart’s nearest stations Lansdowne Road and Sandymount are but a hop skip and a jump away. If you fancy coming along by bus then jump on any of the 46a, 145, 7 or the 39a.
Please do not obstruct driveways, neighbouring properties or park illegally as this can cause great inconvenience to our neighbours.
It is also easily accessible by foot, bicycle & car.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes, it is all on one level without steps, with designated trackway in main areas. Disabled toilet facilities are available.
Can under 18s go to the festival?
Yes but only when accompanied by a responsible adult. Full ticket price applies.
Can I change my tickets for another day?
All tickets are non-transferable.
Can I get a refund?
Unless the event is cancelled, all tickets are non-refundable.
Can I bring an umbrella?
Small umbrella’s are permitted only.
Food & Drinks
Will refreshments be available?
Yes. Craft beers, cider, wines, cocktails, whiskey, gin, juices, soft drinks, coffee and teas will be available.
Can I bring a reusable water bottle?
Yep. We will have filling stations around the site where you can fill up your bottle.
How much will food and drink be?
The festival will offer heaps of sample sized BBQ dishes so you can try as many different dishes from as many chefs as possible. They will start from 6 Smokins. Bear in mind, the higher the quality of meat and produce, the higher the price will be!
Craft beer is from 4 Smokin’s for a glass and 6 Smokins for a pint.
Long drinks and cocktails start from 7 Smokins.
Can I bring my own food and drink into the event?
No outside food and drinks is permitted inside the festival gates. Only food & drinks purchased inside the events are permitted, with the exception of baby food.
Smokins – Event Currency
How do I pay for my food & drink?
Big Grill Festival currency ‘Smokins’ will be used throughout the weekend. Smokin’s can be bought for cold hard cash (or plastic) from the Token Booths inside.

How much are the Smokins and how do they work?
Smokin’s are like-for-like value, so 1 Smokin’ is worth 1 Euro.
Can I use Smokins across the different days?
Yes, you can.
Demos, Competitions & Entertainment
Whats this area ‘Bastecamp’ all about then?
Bastecamp is the smoking hub of the festival. Expect demos and workshops with some of the best live fire cooks, chefs and teachers in the business. There will be heated chats, interviews and profiles with our Pitmasters and plenty more surprises.
Is there a Kid’s area?
Yes, there will be a lovely big children’s area with inflatables, kids entertainment, a buggy park, children-friendly food and lots more to be added too. The kids area is available Saturday & Sunday 12pm-4.30pm only.
What are these competitions you speak of?
We host a series of eating competitions at The Big Grill. We host a hot chili eating competition each day at 7pm on the main stage. On Saturday and Sunday we host a hot wing challenge at 3pm on the main stage.
How do I enter the competitions?
Entry to the competitions will open closer to the date, announced via our mailing list and social channels.
Is there music?
Yep, lots of DJs & some live acts.
ATM, can I get cash on site?
There are lots of ATM’s in the Ballsbridge and Donnybrook area but not on site.
We accept card payments at our token booths and selected vendors.
Will there be nappy changing facilities available?
Yes, located adjacent to the kids area.

Are pets/animals allowed in?
Regrettably, no animals are allowed inside the event, with the exception of registered assistance animals.

Large bags and backpacks will NOT be allowed in to the festival, only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7in/29.7cm) will be permitted into the event. Bags smaller than A4 will be searched on entry, to avoid lengthy queues we strongly advise that you do not bring a bag. No food or drink can be brought in either, unless its for babies&kids.
There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. Bags must not be left at entrances or surrounding areas. Any items left will be removed and disposed of accordingly.
Buggies, prams & 1 small chair per person are ok to bring in. Small umbrellas are ok.
